Family Trip to a Ranch

Visiting a ranch in Montana was one of the best vacations my family has taken.  I like my creature comforts, so I made sure we chose a ranch with great accommodations and food.  Ranch at Rock Creek was where we stayed, but there are quite a few other luxury ranch options out there.
While I loved the "glamping" elements of being there, what my husband and kids loved was the variety of activities.  In addition to the expected horseback riding, there was a ropes course, paint ball, mountain biking, fly fishing, archery, shooting, geocaching and a pool.  I even convinced the family to do a mountain-top yoga class (not sure that will ever happen again!).  Every Tuesday night in the summer they have a real rodeo with bull riding and bucking broncos, which is truly something to behold.  My suburban kids were mesmerized.  In the evenings, the bowling alley is the place to be, adjacent to the game room and movie theater (conveniently located next to the bar for the parents).
What I love about a ranch for a family trip is there are numerous activities that parents, kids and even grandparents can experience together.  Sharing the stories of the day around the campfire in the evenings, while roasting marshmallows for s'mores, creates priceless memories.
