I have experienced the transformative power of travel firsthand and feel like it is a privilege to help others do the same. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to travel. One of my first travel memories is being in the Atlanta airport at age 7, staring at the Departures & Arrivals board and marveling that there were so many places in the world to go.
I spent my junior year in college in Italy and France (just one country wasn’t enough!) and worked for 2 years in Japan after graduating from Davidson College. The travel I was able to do in Europe and Asia during those years just increased my wanderlust.
After receiving an MBA from Dartmouth and working as a Product Manager at Colgate-Palmolive, I was able to parlay my passion into a career. My MBA has given me the tools to run my own travel business, but more importantly it made the connection that allowed me to work in this field. My friend and classmate Shawna Huffman Owen is the owner of Huffman Travel, the boutique travel agency for which I am an independent contractor.
Planning my clients’ travel is as exciting to me as planning my own, and I take the same care in crafting their journeys and attending to every detail. Nothing makes me happier than clients returning from a trip feeling elated that their lives have been enriched and that they have created lifelong memories. Some of my favorite trips to plan are ones for special occasions, such as milestone birthdays or anniversaries, often with multigenerational families who have come together to celebrate.
I enjoy planning trips to any part of the globe, but as the mother of four boys, I have come to appreciate how much a great adventure can pull the family together and create lasting memories. Trips to Africa, Patagonia, the Galapagos and Costa Rica are among my specialties. I also love planning travels to Europe and have all kinds of ways to make historical and cultural sites interesting for kids.
